As a client of Powhatan Animal Hospital, you can expect our full attention to your pet’s needs.
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted by our friendly receptionists. They will start by asking about your pet’s medical history, current condition and the presenting complaint for your visit. Then the receptionist will usher you into an examination room as quickly as possible. We know your time is valuable and we strive to get you seen as promptly as possible.
Once in exam room, of our veterinarians will examine your pet, ask you further questions and may recommend diagnostic tests or other steps if needed. Generally we will offer you an estimate of cost involved at this point. Once any tests have been run, which can usually be done in the practice, your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and treatment plan if warranted.
This is a great time to ask questions. Our veterinary team wants to make sure you’re completely comfortable with the information we’re providing.
Our veterinary technician will likely come back to wrap things up and will provide you with helpful pet care information and answer any wellness and care questions you may have. Our front desk staff will process your payment and schedule any needed follow-up appointments.
Please note: We do accept drop off appointments for busy clients on the go. In this case, you drop off your pet in the morning with instructions of what you would like done, and pick your pet up later in the day after we are finished. For many clients this can be quite a time saver.
Our goal is to see all our clients and patients in a timely manner, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible.
